Hello MacMammas and Pappas:
Hey there, MacReaders! All my kids are finally back home, and the house is a crazy mess as the end of the summer approaches. Sleepovers, sleeping until noon, junk food, phone chargers, and water bottles all over the floor, and plenty of loud sibling fighting. It is definitely time to go back to school!
My older kids had a great time at their 1 week USY (United Synagogue Youth) Encampment, and they came back with 60 new Facebook friends, crazy songs, and funny bunk tales. This was the first year that they were together as high school students, and they told me that they were everyone's favorite sister/brother duo, and that there friends wished that they had the same great relationship with their sibling. Aah, it makes me so proud that they actually "like" each other outside of the house.
It's official--this year I will now have TWO kids in high school, and tonight is a freshman kick-off for my daughter's class of 2018! It is a little easier this year, especially since I feel like my daughter has been a high school student since she was about 10. The only problem is that girls are so much more expensive than boys, and she will need a new hairdo, manicured nails, and a new wardrobe for the first day of school. My sons just roll out of bed and throw on their favorite t-shirt and shorts.
This coming Monday is my birthday, as well as my youngest son's birthday. Nine years ago, I got the best birthday present ever--little Jakey. The only problem is that now my birthday is all about Jake, and we have to go to Applebee's on every birthday (hey, lucky me, kids eat free on Labor Day!).
Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!
Peace, love, and macaroni
