Chinese New Year Treat:

Mandarin Oranges

January 19, 2012

During Chinese New Year, Mandarin oranges are considered traditional symbols of abundance and good fortune. Throughout the two-week celebration, they are offered as gifts to friends and family and often displayed as decoration.  Oranges are the perfect source of vitamin C and flavanoids.  One orange supplies nearly 100 precent of the recommended daily dietary intake of vitamin C.
Eating an Orange provides your body with good dietary fiber.  They are also a good source of vitamin A, B vitamins, amino acids, potassium, folic acid, calcium, chlorine and iron!    What a wonderful way to celebrate!
