The Power Of Pickleball

Pickleball is taking the world by storm, becoming the fastest-growing sport in the United States and around the world. It is making a name for itself as an exciting game for all ages to partake in! As the sport is growing in popularity, it is piquing  an interest in younger generations.

The Pickleball Club at Monroe is a brand new indoor facility with 10 dedicated pickleball courts where your child can learn the necessary skills and rules to learn the game the right way, grow with the sport, and become a master dinker!

What makes Pickleball so special is that it doesn’t discriminate in age. It doesn't matter if you are 6, 16, 36, 66 or 86 - all ages are welcome to compete on the courts! Whether your child is an aspiring athlete or looking for a fun recreational activity, everyone is welcome! Pickleball is a game that  can be played as the kids get older and even more important, something you can all do together. What a great way to bond amongst parents and children or grandparents and grandchildren!

Many describe pickleball as a cross between tennis, ping pong and badminton. A pickleball court is smaller in size than a regulation tennis court, giving the players less surface area to run and move about. The game is also intended to have a  slower, more controlled pace in the beginning, making it easier for children to pick up the game while not feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. Pickleball helps to reinforce the importance of physical activity and movement amongst all ages. During a junior clinic, they will focus on hand-eye coordination, footwork, paddle skills, balance, agility and cardiovascular fitness.

Just  like any organized sports team or classroom setting, kids love meeting other kids outside of their existing social networks. They get to interact with other children, possibly making a new friend while getting in their exercise!

At The Pickleball Club at Monroe, certified instructors create a fun way to engage and teach kids while modifying games designed to improve fundamental skills in a relaxed social setting. The junior classes offer 2 age groups -  the“Dinkers” Ages 8-12 and  the “Driver” Ages 13-16. (16 and older can take classes with the adults)!

Pickleball might be the “on trend” sport at the moment, but it's truly an all around fun-tastic activity for kids of all ages.
