A few weeks ago, I went to the most amazing Halloween party at my friend Helene's house--awesome decorations all over her house (including the bathroom), a funny comedian, great people, and the most delicious food.
My husband was excited because he could finally dress as his dream costume--Hospital Patient Seymour Butts. He wore a hospital gown with nothing on underneath but tan shorts and a big fake butt hanging out from the back of his robe (seriously, he has been talking about wearing this costume for about 15 years). I dressed as Dr. S. Butts complete with my neighbors' doctors' coat, my daughter's favorite pair of nerd glasses, a stethoscope, and a pencil holding up my hair. It was kind of cool, since I have always fantasized about being a real doctor (not just one who writes for doctors).
I digress...now, back to the food. Helene made the most amazing dessert--a yodel pie. Now, yodels were my favorite snack when I was a kid, I used to peel the chocolate coating off and then unroll the cake. And when I was pregnant, my biggest craving was frozen yodels. I was so excited when Helene sent me the recipe and said I could share it with my readers. And it only takes 4 ingredients--that's my kind of recipe. Thanks for sharing, Helene!
Ingredients
1 box Drake Yodels
1 tub Vanilla ice cream
1 jar Hot Fudge sauce
1 chocolate pie crust
Directions
Break up the pie crust and coat the bottom of a deep dish with ½ of the crust
Cut the ice cream into thin layers and put the first layer on the top of the chocolate crust
Cut each Yodel in the box into 5 pieces and use ½- the box to completely cover the first layer of ice cream with small pinwheels of Yodels
Put the second layer of ice cream on top of the Yodel layer
Put large dollops of hot fudge (warm it in the microwave so it spreads easily) all over the top of the second layer of ice cream
Put the remaining ½-box of Yodels (cut up into 5 pieces) all over the top of the hot fudge
Put the 3rd layer of ice cream on top of the Yodels.
Put another layer of dollops of hot fudge on top of that and cover with the remaining ½ of the crust mix.
You can put cherries, sprinkles, or any other decoration on top of the crust mix.
Freeze for at least 3 hours
Serve after letting the cake defrost for about 15 minutes
