Mom and Founder of Camps4U - Shares Some Reflections....

August 14, 2014
Since this business of mine Camps4U kicked off in April 2014 - I did not know what to expect. I am so pleased to have been able to reacquaint myself with the overnight camping industry and build new relationships with camp owners and directors, but also with new families. The partnerships that I have fostered has been so worth while and meaningful.

As a result, I have really seen the process for both families and camps when they find a match and realize that they will now have a future partnership for many summers to come. Its really been a magical experience. Visit our website and facebook page.

On a personal note, as a mother, when I chose the camp for my son who struggles a bit with the academic work load during the school year (who doesn't?), it was really important that I chose a camp with a program that encourages each camper to have fun and to participate in each activity, no matter the skill level.

After visiting day two weeks ago - I saw the "magic" of overnight camp in my sons eyes and attitude - he was comfortable in his own skin, he was smiling a lot (like the real one, not the one that I ask him to perform when I have a camera on hand), he was confident in the way he introduced his family to others (he wanted us to meet everyone and not because we asked him to), he was pleased to show us all the activities that are offered and those that he participates in (even if he isn't really that great at it, he wanted us to see him do it) and most importantly he wasn't stressed out about what he had to do later, tomorrow, or the next day.

He was just "present" do I dare say that out loud? He was reveling in the moment of showing the camp off to us and showing his family off to the camp.....needless to say, the "magic" of camp is exactly what both my son and his parents needed.

I really appreciate the camp owners/directors and envy them even more now because they have the environment and know how to influence our children in the most positive way. I enjoy this new business that much more because I hope the families I get to work with will also experience the "magic" of camp for their child(ren).

My son returns in 3 days, I'm hoping the "magic" doesn't wear off too quickly.
