Hello MacMammas and Pappas:
Hope you are all enjoying the summer--before you know it, those pesky Back-to-School commercials and circulars will be coming around. If you are a plan-ahead person, you can find $1 notebooks, crayons, folders, and pencils at Target and Five Below. If you more of a last-minute lady like me, you will end up paying 3 times the price the night before school starts. Hmm, so that's why I am always broke.
My kids are halfway done with camp, and last week I got to see my daughter in her Disney musical revue. She had a couple of solo singing lines, including a part in the "Let It Go" song from Frozen. Even 8 months after the movie came out, the audience still went crazy. Personally, I am a little tired of hearing it (well, except when my daughter is singing it in a show!), but it still lives on. So, we are happy to give you some hands-on crafts based on the movie Frozen to keep your kids happy!
My youngest son is in the midst of color war, and it is so cute to watch his team spirit as he sings his team songs to the Pitbull/GaGa song "Timber"--You're going down, Red Team's gonna win, Woa, oh, oh, oh. The other song is to the tune of "Best Days of My Life" by American Author. "This is going to be the best color war of my life, my life, my life, my life." They had a color war event for parents, and I got to participate in a water balloon toss with my son. He didn't really want me to be his partner, since he said that I stink at sports. To his surprise, I caught 2 or 3 water balloons without dropping them.
On the cross country front, my son has left California (after a trip to the San Diego Zoo and a day hanging out in Newport Beach) and has made his way through the Las Vegas Strip, watched the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, bought Indian Jewelry in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and today, he is hitting the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. His photos and texts crack me up, and although, I will be so happy to have him home in 2 weeks, I will miss traveling vicariously through him.
Until next week--have a great summer weekend!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Merri & Sheri
