Happy Year of the Dragon

January 19, 2012

Hello Fellow MK readers--it looks like we are celebrating another New Year this week--Chinese New Year. Is it okay if we keep the celebrations, but forget about all the New Year Resolutions I have already broken?!

2012 is the Year of the Dragon and we have included all kinds of special Chinese New Year's articles for you, including a cool gong craft and recipes for Mu Shu Chicken Lettuce Cups and Vegetable Chow Mein.

Plus, here are links to fun Chinese New Year events in New Jersey and New York City. And if you haven't visited the new Asian Food Market on Rte. 79 in Marlboro, you are in for a treat. There are all kinds of exotic delicacies, frozen dumplings, colorful candies, and live fish!

And can I get a GO GIANTS from the crowd? My 6-year-old son is getting into football and wants to wear his Giants jersey every day. The other day my older son turned off a game for just a moment, and the little one turned to his big brother and said, "Hey, turn that back on. What kind of football fan are you anyway?" Personally, while I am rooting for the Giants, I have to go FAR FAR away from my living room TV to escape the yelling, screaming, crying, cursing, and throwing objects that happens during a game.

But HA, now it is my turn to get my husband back for all those Football Sundays. Because it's now American Idol season and now I can taunt my husband every Wednesday and Thursday night. Welcome back Crazy Uncle Stevie, Randy the Dawg, J. Glow, and Little Ryan Seacrest. So, who are your first-night favorites: the hipsy that lives in the tent, Philip Phillips that works in a country pawn shop, or the 17-year-old "Steal Your Girl Even Though I Look 12" guy who sounds like Michael Jackson? And yes, my husband, you have your fantasy football league, but I now have my American Idol Top 12 Pool (yes, really!).

Guess what--Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is coming to town! Don't miss auditions for Marlboro Players' production of this fun family show. My family will be there--Arielle wants to be Veruca Salt. And I think she already has the attitude to pull it off.

Don't miss this week's contest to win tickets to see the Monster Truck Jam at Trenton's Sun National Bank Center. I know we have lots of girly kind of tickets--so here's one for real men. :)

Have a great week and GO G-I-A-N-T-S!

Peace, Love, and Macaroni,

Merri and Sheri
