Welcome to Marlboro-Manalapan Macaroni Kid

Happy Holidays!

By Merri December 23, 2011

Happy Holidays Macaroni Kid readers--whether you celebrate Chanukah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa, we have an article just for you! We are on Chanukah Day 4 here at Casa de Cohen and I can't eat another potato latke. In fact, my house still smells like fried latzes from 4 days ago! Think homemade potato latkes take too long (I do, I usually make them from a mix!) to make? Check out a Speed Latkes video that shows you how to make latkes in just 13 minutes! If you are sick of potatoes, try our recipe for Sufganyiot (fried donuts) or apple latkes. And what's a Jew to do on Christmas (besides eat Chinese food or go to the movies--view our KidsFirst! review of the new Chipmunks movie)? Be sure to look at our calendar for fun Chanukah events on Christmas. My family can't wait to see 8th Day (a popular Jewish band) on the 8th Day of Chanukah (December 27) at Congregation Sons of Israel.

Plus, we have all kinds of crafts and recipes for Christmas. Some of these recipes are super easy like No Bake Santa Cookies and Candy Cane Sticks. There are three themes going on in this issue: Reindeers, Snowmen, and Christmas Trees. From Reindeer Food to sprinkle on your lawn on Christmas Eve to Reindeer Pancakes for Christmas morning breakfast to handmade Reindeer Ornaments for your tree--we got you covered everything reindeer. Then there's Snowman Snacks on a Stick, and handmade Snowman ornaments and chair covers. And don't miss our adorable Christmas tree feet craft or beautiful Christmas tree cupcakes. And if you kids are looking to talk to Santa, check out our article "Connecting with Santa." And be sure to track Santa this Christmas Eve on Norad's Santa Path--there's even a phone app to follow the jolly man!

With all the fun of holidays, you also get holiday vacations and days of trying to find ways to entertain your kids. So what can you do with kids of all ages? Don't miss our Special List of Fun Places to Take Your Kids--including places to golf, play games, bounce, skate, paint, and even get a makeover.

And this is the last week of the Macaroni Kid Gift Guide--check it out for some special discounts and coupons (including a 10% off coupon to the Hobby Shop and a 15% discount at YoMon!)

Finally, we are giving away 4 tickets to the Kazoobie Kazoo Show at Kelsey Theatre. Click here to enter our contest.

And in the words of our dear friend Jessica Claus from Macaroni Kid North Pole:

May the  spirit of the holidays glow bright into the homes and hearts of your families this holiday season. May your days be filled with love and respect. May you see that your friends and families are more valuable than any gift under the tree this year and that you can never put a price tag on a warm smile or a kind gesture.

Here at Macaroni Kid, we wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season! Enjoy this special time with your families!

Peace, love, and macaroni,

Merri and Sheri
